Below the menu there is a hit counter, a counter of the number of visitors in Arabic numbers and in Roman numerals.
On the menu I have added History as a menu item on both the home page menu and on the subordinate menus. This item includes the items previously sponsored (Seven Sages & the timeline of Anecdotes) and the Centennial History. It now also includes an album with some pictures from the Centennial Meeting.
The design and the wording of the notices posted for both the President and the Webmaster have been slightly revised on the home page. The Webmaster's page has been given a major revision, some features of which are described in later postings.
In the menu under Executive Committee there is a new facility that allows Committee members who remember the password to send emails to all the people on the Executive Committee with one stroke, or to selected members of the Committee. The author can direct the reply to be sent to anyone.
As you will have noticed, the Webmaster has posted on his page a picture gallery, set up so that the user can select any particular picture in any sequence s/he wants. This same sort of thing could be set up to display pictures of the Centennial Meeting of CANE.
This facility allows the user to select and see the
stacked messages of the webmaster. The latest message
is initially displayed, but the user can scroll thru
the available notices and select any one of them.
Perhaps the most important feature is one about which
the user is unaware. The webmaster or whichever officer
has access to such a facility, can immediately post a
new notice without needing to have the webmaster hard
code it into the program.
Note that a favicon has been added to our URL;
in fact it is an animated gif that spells out CANE
and then presents the picture of an owl and
then a wolf to represent both Athens and Rome.
Each image lasts for 2 minutes so that the changes
will not be distracting: the sequence is as given
here:

    OWL     WOLF
There is also the possibility of having online polling, even voting. A version of open polling is seen at the bottom of the Webmaster's page.
